SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
We welcome submissions of high-quality literary works from authors of all academic backgrounds for publication on our blog. Please read the following guidelines carefully before submitting your work.
DISCLAIMER: This blog is initiative purely aspiring to encourage creative-writing and artistic expressions. Any submissions encouraging political, hateful sentiments shall be strictly rejected.
General Guidelines:
Originality: All submissions must be original and previously unpublished (including online publications). We also do not accept simultaneous submissions.
Language: The blog is open to works in all languages, as long as the language is clear and respectful in nature.
Copyright: By submitting your work, you confirm that you are the sole copyright holder. Upon publication, you grant IRIDESCA the right to publish and archive your work on our website.
Editing: We reserve the right to edit submissions for clarity, grammar, and style. We will consult with authors on substantive changes.
Response Time: We aim to respond to submissions within one week. If you do not hear from us within that time, please feel free to inquire about the status of your submission.
Submission Method: Please submit your work via this google form.
File Format: Submissions should be in .doc, .docx, or .pdf format. Please use a standard font (e.g., Times New Roman, Arial) and 12-point font size.
Additionally, Include a brief bio (50-100 words) in the body of your email along with your name, email, academic institution and a photograph.
Specific Guidelines:
1. Fictional Stories:
Word Count: We accept short stories up to 1000 words.
Genres: We are open to a wide range of genres, including (but not limited to) literary fiction, science fiction, fantasy, mystery, and contemporary fiction.
2. Poetry:
Style: We welcome poetry in all styles and forms (Including Shayaris)
Number of Poems: You may submit up to 3 poems at a time.
3. Legal Fiction Dramas (Short Plays or Excerpts):
Format: Submissions can be short plays (one-act) or excerpts from longer works.
Content: We are interested in legal dramas or short stories that explore ethical dilemmas, courtroom conflicts, and the complexities of the justice system.
Length: Plays or excerpts should be no longer than 2500 words.
Note: Videos of you filming yourself and others performing these dramas are also utmost welcome!
4. Book/Film Reviews:
Content: We accept reviews of books and films relevant to literature, law, and culture.
Length: Reviews should be between 900 and 1500 words.
Style: Reviews should be insightful, well-argued, and engaging. Avoid excessive plot summaries.
Focus: Reviews should offer a critical analysis of the work, exploring its themes, strengths, and weaknesses.
Subject Matter: We are open to reviews of both classic and contemporary works, preferably of legal nature.
5. Photography:
Send us your photographs in the highest possible quality, along with a caption for each photo capped at 50 words.
6. Music:
Send us videos of you performing either original tracks or covers of existing songs (instrumental or vocal), along with a caption explaining your motivation behind choosing that song, that instrument or your general love for music!
7. Journalistic Articles/Opinion Pieces:
We are open to semi-formal opinion pieces on legal, political, social and cultural topics.
8. Artworks:
Any form of self-made artwork (no AI-generated artworks allowed) can be submitted through a high-resolution photograph/copy of the artwork, along with a title and 50-word explanation behind the piece (if required).
9. Creative Non-Fiction:
Format: We accept Essays up to 1000 words.
10. Mixed-Media Artwork:
A Combination, Mixed-Media Artwork can also be submitted after consultation with the Editorial Board.
