Breeze by Tisya Thakur

Hey summer breeze, why don’t you come towards me?

I stand still in the north,
You come straight from the south,
But oh wait,
You turned towards the west,
Where flowers are watered,
Where the soil is pampered.

Now I shall wait for you to come again.

Hey summer breeze,
We wait for you in the north,
Standing under a tall tree,
Waiting to be free.

Oh no!
You turned towards the east,
Where roots are well-fed,
Where leaves have already shed.

No matter,
I shall wait,
I’ll wait with my vision straight.

Just like the sun, I’ll rise,
I’ll rise every day,
Waiting for you to arrive.

Oh summer breeze,
I pray for you,
I thirst for you,
I burn for you.

This time it wasn’t the west,
Nor was it the east.
Perhaps it was me.
It was me.

Why couldn’t I sense your heady scent?
Why couldn’t I fly with your wings?
Perhaps this is why I still desire your pure presence.

Oh summer breeze,
Oh my darling breeze,
You make me doubt my existence.
For you taught me to smile,
You taught me to cherish the small things.
You made me see the smile on the swaying sunflowers.
You taught me to see the sorrows of a shivering cloud.

Now I fall short of you.
Can you imagine?

It’s like a sun without its shine,
It’s like a tree without its leaves,
It is like a heart without blood to pump.

Beyond imagination, right?

Oh summer breeze,
Where are you?
In the Himalayas?
Or in the evergreens?

For you are not with me.

Oh my darling breeze,
My one and only glee,
Come back to me.
